FAQ & Compliance

Last updated:

Short answer: SellChargeOffs is a seller-side service, not a debt collector, and it never contacts consumers. Sellers share summary data only until a mutual NDA is signed; account data then moves through an encrypted data room to buyers who represent they hold the required state licenses. Valuation requests are free, and any compensation is disclosed in writing before you sign.

Are you a debt collector?

No. We do not collect debts or contact consumers. Buyers that collect must comply with the FDCPA, Regulation F and state law.

What data do you need?

Only summary portfolio information. Do not submit consumer names, SSNs or account numbers through this site.

When is account-level data shared?

Only after a mutual NDA, through an encrypted data room, to qualified buyers.

Do buyers need licenses?

Many states require debt buyer or collection agency licensing. We introduce only buyers who represent they hold required licenses for the states in your portfolio.

How do you handle GLBA?

Data handling follows least-privilege access, encryption and retention limits aligned with the GLBA Safeguards Rule.

Do I pay anything?

Requesting a valuation costs sellers nothing. If we are compensated on a sale, by you or by the buyer, we disclose it in writing before you sign anything.
